Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation Programs for Bone, Muscle and Soft Tissue Injuries
Prevention and Treatment Programs for Chronic Conditions, Diseases and Disorders

As one of the largest and most successful Professional Personal Training and Exercise/Fitness TherapySM services in the United States, Brighton Personal Training is recognized and approved by the medical field and reimbursed by insurance companies, the Workers’ Compensation Board and self-insured corporations for Exercise/Fitness TherapySM.

The Exercise/Fitness TherapySM Programs are Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation Programs for Bone, Muscle and Soft Tissue Injuries, and Prevention and Treatment Programs for Chronic Condition, Diseases and Disorders.

If an individual were to read each description of all the different specialized categories we offer, the descriptions might appear to read and sound similar. But please do not be misled. Due to the overall components, modalities and personalized nature of Exercise/Fitness TherapySM, all possibilities, variations and considerations must be taken into account when designing and developing each individual’s Exercise/Fitness TherapySM program. This includes but is not limited to the individual’s age and gender. Therefore, men, women, boys and girls of all ages must be approached on an individualized basis. For this reason, each Exercise/Fitness TherapistSM is specifically schooled and certified to work with both males and females within the following age groups and specialized areas.

  • Children (4-12)
  • Young Adult (13-20)
  • Adult (21-35)
  • Middle Aged (36-55)
  • Senior (56-75)
  • Super Senior (76-110)

In order for the Professional Personal Trainers, Exercise/Fitness TherapistsSM and Sports Specific Conditioning Specialist to design an Exercise/Fitness TherapySM program specific to each client’s exact genetic potential and needs, our team of professionals will have each client complete a detailed questionnaire and perform specific tests to determine the following information.

  1. Where each client is genetically best and worse.
  2. Which muscles, tendons and ligaments are strong and which are not.
  3. Which muscles, tendons and ligaments are flexible and which are not.
  4. Where all strength and endurance imbalances are.
  5. Where the leverage points of each joint and associated muscles groups are.
  6. Which is dominant, the fast twitch or slow twitch muscle fibers.
  7. What rep schemes and rep regiments work best for each and every muscle group.
  8. How much time it takes each client’s body to recover between each set, between each workout, between each micro scale and macro scale.
  9. What each client’s cardiovascular capabilities are.
  10. What each client’s coordination and balance capabilities are.
  11. What each client’s metabolic rate is.
  12. What each client’s body composition is.
  13. What each client’s medical history is (all old and new aches, pains, injuries, chronic conditions, diseases and disorders).
  14. Where each client’s existing scar tissue is located.
  15. What each client’s hobbies are.
  16. What each client’s job related activities are.
  17. What sports each client plays.
  18. What each client’s stress levels are and how they handle it.
  19. What each client’s sleep habits are.
  20. What each client’s eating habits are.
  21. What each client’s nutritional needs are.
  22. What each clients mental capabilities are.

After all the information has been properly measured and calculated, we can then specifically design programs that will hit 99% of each client’s capabilities and needs. We will then continue to monitor and critique the client’s progress on a daily basis. As their injury, chronic condition, disease or disorder improves as well as their strength, flexibility and endurance, we will upgrade and change their program to reflect those improvements.

Exercise/Fitness TherapySM is a perfect complement to pre- or post-surgical work and clinical Physical Therapy. The difference between Exercise/Fitness TherapySM and clinical Physical Therapy are the modalities used, how the modalities are performed, the equipment the modalities are performed on, the atmosphere that they are performed in, the components that make up Exercise/Fitness TherapySM and the area of focus. Physical Therapy focuses on healing only the injured area, whereas Exercise/Fitness TherapySM focuses on the entire body, including an overall emphasis on the injured area. Due to these differences, Physical Therapy and Exercise/Fitness TherapySM are used during different stages (or at different times) of an individual’s rehabilitation. There are many different types of injuries, chronic conditions, diseases and disorders, and each needs a personalized and specific approach.

Exercise/Fitness TherapySM is a very active form of rehabilitation and uses modalities such as a variety of stretching, resistance training, balance and coordination techniques, cardiovascular conditioning, strength training, endurance training, weight management, core-lumbar-scapula stabilization programs, behavior modification, education, and ice and heat to rehabilitate injuries and to help control/manage and eventually eliminate pain. Joint stabilization exercises will determine and then improve what the client can lift, push, pull and carry. These modalities will help restore function and prevent injuries through improved strength, flexibility (range of motion), endurance and muscle reaction time (muscular speed and contraction capabilities). They are also used to manage pain and rehabilitate problems associated with Chronic Conditions, Diseases and Disorders.

Exercise/Fitness TherapySM is based on the hypothesis that an imbalance or weakness in another area might either be aggravating the area already known to be injured or perhaps have assisted in or caused the injury in the first place. In essence, our unique rehabilitation programs target muscles throughout the body, not just in one isolated injured area. By strengthening the entire body, stress can be taken off of the injured area and placed on the stronger areas, allowing the injured area the necessary time and energy to heal itself. After the injured area has healed and been strengthened, it can then become a fully functional member of a healthy, balanced system again.

Based on the premise that muscles, tendons, and ligaments hold all other structures in the body together, Exercise/Fitness TherapySM aims to strengthen and condition all of these areas. By doing so, all support mechanisms are made as strong and balanced as possible, guarding against further injury and helping to support already injured areas. Exercise/Fitness Therapy requires consultations with all relevant medical staff as well as constant monitoring and feedback from the client. Controlled, progressive weight-bearing activities which are designed to strengthen the tissues surrounding injured areas cause the area to become stronger and more stable over time. In addition to weight bearing and job-specific movements, controlled stretching programs are designed to help aid tissue flexibility. The more flexible muscles, tendons, and ligaments become, the easier it is to rehabilitate them. Increased flexibility also serves to prevent new or further injury.

The mental rewards of this type of rehabilitation cannot be overstated. Injuries, especially those that put clients out of work and out of their daily activities/regiment for long periods of time, can be difficult to deal with mentally. Thinking about the amount of pain and effort involved in rehabilitating an injury can cause a great deal of stress. As an Exercise/Fitness TherapySM program progresses, clients begin to feel stronger throughout their entire body, not just in one part or area. Being able to feel their muscles, tendons, and ligaments becoming stronger encourages individuals to keep pushing forward. When clients see themselves getting stronger and the performance of their daily activities becoming easier, they are encouraged to continue. It has often been said that the mind is the most important part of any human endeavor. We have found this to be especially true of the clients involved in our programs. Clients that maintain a positive attitude begin to see the fruit of their efforts, which in turn drives them to put in yet more effort. In essence, the entire process feeds on its own success.

Physical Therapy uses modalities such as physical, chemical and mechanical means including but not limited to heat, cold, light, air, laser, water, sound, electricity, massage, mobilization and therapeutic exercise with or without assistive devices. Therefore, most injuries that call for surgery need the expertise of a Physical Therapist and the types of modalities that they use.

As the injured area improves and Physical Therapy is no longer needed, the individual then needs the expertise of a Professional Personal Trainer-Exercise/Fitness TherapistSM and the types of modalities that they use in Exercise/Fitness TherapySM. This is exactly why Physical Therapy and Exercise/Fitness TherapySM is a match made in heaven. They complement each other perfectly. Together they represent short term (Physical Therapy) and long term (Exercise/Fitness Therapy) care for Injuries, Injury Prevention, Chronic Conditions, Diseases, Disorders, Health, Wellness and Fitness. It just doesn’t get any better than that.

Exercise/Fitness TherapySM is a vital component of a conscientious return-to-work program. The inclusion of functional progression in treatment is a sign of a prudent Exercise/Fitness TherapySM Professional. It is of the utmost importance that each individual advances one step at a time. Function within a given job description must be broken down into basic skills and movements that are progressed gradually as the client progresses. As the client reacquires the skills relevant to his or her job, appropriate safeguards against further injury must be taken.

The insurance companies and corporations wanted this phase of rehabilitation to be $Cost Effective$ and have the following components: education, motivation, nutrition/weight management, fun and entertaining. All while providing a complete strength, flexibility and endurance conditioning program for the entire body with emphasis on the injured area. Each appointment must be performed in a one-on-one setting by a Certified Professional Personal Trainer-Exercise/Fitness TherapistSM and each appointment must be one hour in length. The Exercise/Fitness TherapySM program must also have long-term capabilities and options. Meaning, they wanted the facility to be able to offer Memberships and provide Exercise/Fitness TherapySM and Professional Personal Training appointments to individuals who cared to continue the health, wellness and fitness portion of the program on their own after their Exercise/Fitness TherapySM program was completed.

This is truly long-term care (Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation of Bone, Muscle and Soft Tissue Injuries and Prevention and Treatment of Chronic Conditions, Diseases and Disorders) at its best and is exactly what our Exercise/Fitness TherapySM programs provide and excel in.

We believe that the client’s entire body must first be strengthened, especially the injured area. Only after that is completed can we help the client begin performing the actual movements required for their job. We have empirical evidence compiled from our work with Wegmans Food Markets to prove that this method produces the most effective results.

The state-of-the art equipment that we use to rehabilitate our clients can precisely duplicate any angle of movement that one might encounter in a job situation. It is through these controlled movements that we are able to strengthen the client without putting them at risk of re-injury. If we simply had someone lifting and moving heavy boxes, they would be likely to re-injure themselves. Our equipment and professional staff, virtually eliminate that risk. We have our clients perform job-specific movements as well as movements that will increase their strength, flexibility, and endurance levels above and beyond anything required on the job, but not until their body is prepared to do so.

The ultimate goal of the Exercise/Fitness TherapySM Programs we offer is the safe and timely return of each client to his or her job and daily/recreational activities, insuring that each client is able to remain a productive individual. Over the last 20 years, we have designed and developed very successful injury prevention and rehabilitation programs using state-of-the-art exercise equipment. All of our programs are scientifically designed and implemented to insure the most efficient physical, psychological, and economic results. Our programs have been field-tested and proven successful beyond all expectations. We take great pride in our work and look forward to working with your company.
